Caption Competition

This picture was posted at Dead Air Space, entitled 'Caption Competition'... So please go ahead and be creative and post below.

And in other silly news... Some media actually thought Radiohead were going to sign to Starbucks' label Hear Music. Here's a statement from Radiohead's management on this:

"Radiohead are currently in the studio working on their next record. They are not negotiating a new record deal with anyone, and will not even consider how to release their new music until the album is finished. The rumour that they are about to sign with Starbucks is totally untrue."

Radiohead rumoured to play at Zodiac re-opening

Oxford's premier live music venue, The Zodiac, is being transformed into a club "for the future" as part of a 2 million pounds expansion project. Radiohead are rumoured to play when the club re-opens in September.

The Zodiac has a long history with Radiohead. The band's management funded an earlier refit in 1995 and the video for 'Creep' was filmed in the same venue.

The plans will see the club partially demolished and rebuilt with three separate venues under the same roof. The total capacity will increase from 750 to 1,150 to be renamed The Carling Academy Oxford. The Zodiac's name will live on, though as a 436-person upstairs venue, which will host new bands.

Work will start in mid-May, and see the club closed for four months. Its re-opening in September will be celebrated with a party. AMG, the current owner of the club, remains tight-lipped over who could appear, but refuses to rule out Radiohead.

The club's general manager, Carl Bathgate, said the larger venue would allow Oxford to attract bands which were currently by-passing the city. He said: "Bigger acts will visit Oxford more frequently." [source: thisisoxfordshire.co.uk, thx Steve]

Radiohead included in album cover exhibition

Eyestorm will be staging an exhibition of new limited edition prints by four of the UK's most accomplished designers of music cover art at its Bankside gallery from April 20 - May 20th 2007.

Stanley Donwood, Reggie Pedro, Jason Kedgley and Simon Taylor have all gained wide recognition through their creative collaboration with leading rock bands, but less well known is that all four continue to pursue parallel careers as independent artists.

Stanley Donwood is celebrated for his involvement with Thom Yorke and Radiohead, Reggie Pedro has designed album covers for five-piece British band Gomez, while Jason Kedgley and Simon Taylor - both members of the multimedia design agency Tomato - designed the album covers for electronic music group Underworld.

Eyestorm CEO, Martin Cox, says, "The Cover Up show is Eyestorm's first exhibition in our wonderful Bankside premises. We are delighted and privileged to be able to publish these exciting new editions by some of the UK's most talented artists and designers."

All the limited edition works in the Cover Up show have been produced specially for the exhibition and will appeal to collectors of contemporary art and design as well as to fans of contemporary music.

Mood music

"They knew they were being lied to, but if lies were consistent enough they defined themselves as a credible alternative to the truth. Emotion ruled almost everything, and lies were driven by emotions that were familiar and supportive, while the truth came with hard edges that cut and bruised. They prefered lies and mood music...."
