Radiohead – Reckoner

Lyrics:
Reckoner
Can you take it with you
Disavow the pleasure
You were not to blame for
Bittersweet distractors
Dare not speak his name
Did I cater to all you
All your needs?
Because we separate
it ripples our reflections
Because we separate
it ripples our reflections
Reckoner
Did I cater to all you
All your needs?

Lyrics for the ‘Old Reckoner’

Feeling pulled apart by horses
Fobbed off with lame {“shite” or “shoddy”} excuses.
Feeling pulled apart by horses
Reckoner
Papapa
Reckoner
Papapapa
Reckoner
Papapapa
Reckoner
Feeling pulled apart by horses
{inaudible}
Reckoner
Papapa
Reckoner
Papapapa
Reckoner
Papapapa
Reckoner
Reckoner
Papapa
Reckoner
Papapapa
Reckoner
RECKONER (4:50)

On October 1st, 2007 the track was announced to appear on new album ‘In Rainbows’. When the song was first made available on October 10th, the track sounded completely different than the version known as ‘Reckoner’.

When recording the album, Radiohead made a list on the studio’s blackboard (October 1st, 2005) which included ‘Reckoner’. In rehearsal for their 2006 tour the song appeared on the blackboard in March 2006 again, in a shorter list of songs.

Jonny Greenwood told Gothamist: “Even ones that we finished quickly we spent a long time deciding if they were good enough. None of them were easy, actually. Reckoner kind of came together quickly.”

The band played the song live on their webcast “Thumbs Down” on November 9th, 2007.
