Radiohead have donated this track in March 2003 to budding film-makers
to help younger people come to terms with mental health issues.
The band has handed over the track so would-be directors can use
it in their short films as part of an MTV initiative. The channel
has teamed up with charities Samaritans and Mind Out For Mental
Health for the Need To Talk campaign. Meeting In The Aisle has been
donated for free by the band.
Drummer Phil Selway, who works as a Samaritan, said: "When
the biggest killer of young men in the UK is themselves, anything
the band can do to draw attention to the issue of emotional health
is worthwhile." Young British film-makers are being asked to
submit films or animations from 30 to 60 seconds interpreting or
responding to the phrase "need to talk".
The track can be accessed on the MTV website and films must be submitted
by April 25. MTV marketing director James Scroggs said: "Radiohead
have been generously supportive in offering an exclusive track,
and their endorsement will both inspire the film-makers and help
bring the issue of discussing emotional issues to the fore."
