lyricsJumped in the river, what did I see? Black-eyed angels swam with me A moon full of stars and astral cars And all the figures I used to see All my lovers were there with me All my past and futures And we all went to heaven in a little row boat There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt I jumped into the river and what did I see? |
PYRAMID SONG (AKA EGYPTIAN SONG) (4:51)
available on: amnesiac
piano scores:
Here are six pages of piano scores plus a midi file [thanks Mary]
notes: looks like 'egyptian song' is the actual title for 'nothing to fear', which was played live (with Thom solo on piano) at the Amsterdam Tibetan Freedom Concert in Amsterdam on June 13th 1999. Played a lot on their European Tour in 2000. According to Thom it will probably be called 'Pyramid Song'. As a piano-laden intro quickly gave way to a minor howl from Yorke. A lush and stormy backing track persevered throughout, giving off the impression that the band is symbolically lost at sea. When the drums kicked in, the song almost became a big band-era jam. As the crowd at Plush became lost in the track (many folks were seen with their eyes shut, as if in some sort of trance), a large, overpowering orchestral crescendo rose and fell, bolting those lost in the music back to reality.
notes from ed's diary: an attempt to do vocal, piano and drums on 'egyptian song'. was sounding ok. (08-12-99)
phil and thom also nailed a wonderful version of 'egyptian song' during the day. thom thinks it's the best thing we've committed to tape, ever. (09-12-99)
'egyptian song' sounds even better today (10-12-99)
nigel and jonny are at present getting stuck into going through the various string parts on 'egyptian song'.(21-2-00)
'egyptian song' then..........thom plays bass and it sounds pretty much finished. i haven't really been involved in this song so when i hear it i think i'm able to be fairly objective about it.........it has the feel of one of the tracks on the last mark hollis album and it is definitely one of the highlights so far. (28-02-00)
I froze up upstairs after Nigel has done a good mix of 'Egyptian song' (29-02-00)
